Jaipur:

A second arrest was made on Sunday in connection with the Karauli incident where a priest died after being set on fire by landowners.

The incident on Wednesday sparked a war of words between the BJP and Congress, which is in power in the state.

Police arrested Dilkhush aka Dillu in the murder case of a priest, Hindaun Deputy Police Superintendent Kishori Lal Mehrania said.

On Saturday, the accused Kailash Meena was taken into custody.

He said the two defendants were arrested under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Controversial BJP leader Kapil Mishra met with family members of the victim in Bukana village and offered them 25 lakh of rupees as public assistance.

Mr Mishra, who was mired in controversy over his speeches in the days leading up to the riots in northeast Delhi in February, consoled family members of Priest Babu Lal Vaishnav and pledged all help possible.

“It is a very painful incident, and I think no one should see this kind of suffering,” Mishra told reporters after meeting the priest’s family.

He said that Rs 25 lakh would be transferred to the priest’s family account.

“We will not only provide financial assistance to the family, but we also promised to hold their hand and put them back on their feet so they can move forward,” the former AAP MP said. .

Vaishnav was attacked on Wednesday and died in SMS hospital a day later.

It is alleged that five people, who were trying to occupy cultivated land near the temple, set it on fire after spraying gasoline.

The priest was cremated on Saturday after his family gave in following an administration’s assurance on their claims.

Congress said on Sunday that those who made comparisons between the Hathras and Karauli incidents were doing so for “vested political interests.”

He said that while justice had not been served in Uttar Pradesh, swift action had been taken in Rajasthan.

In UP’s Hathras, a 19-year-old Dalit woman was reportedly raped by four upper caste men on September 14 and died of wounds in a Delhi hospital two weeks later.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had met with family members of victim Hathras.

The BJP had denounced criminal incidents in Rajasthan to Congress, claiming that law and order in the state had “drawn lots” and asked Rahul Gandhi to pay attention to it instead of going to the streets. States led by BJP for “political tourism”.

Asked about the two incidents at a press conference in Delhi, Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said: “Let me be very clear: compare as is done by innuendo and innuendo of interest. acquired policies, between Karauli and Hathras, is to make a mockery of justice. “

“Every murder, and this is the highest crime in our penal book, is despicable, despicable and must be condemned, be it Hathras or Karauli. But that’s not the point. Did you have a midnight cremation in Karauli? The answer is no”. Do you have it in UP? The answer is “Yes” … One is justice, the other is injustice. So before you make any comparisons, search your soul and don’t think the people of India are dumb. Said Mr. Singhvi.
