A few hours after the death of legendary choreographer Saroj Khan, the film fraternity saddened actor Shah Rukh Khan, who was choreographed by Saroj Khan in Baazigar O Baazigar, shared a warm tribute on Twitter. Shah Rukh described Saroj Khan as “my first real teacher in the film industry”. Shah Rukh also shared how Ms. Khan taught her one of the tricks of film dance: “She taught me for hours how to” dive “for film dance.” On a personal level, Shah Rukh remembered Saroj Khan as “one of the most caring, loving and inspiring people I have ever met. You will miss Sarojji. May Allah bless his soul. Thank you for taking care from me, “Shah Rukh tweeted.

Saroj Khan is credited with suggesting the open arm gesture to Shah Rukh Khan for the Baazigar title song, which ultimately became Shah Rukh’s signature romantic movement. During his illustrious career, Saroj Khan worked as a choreographer for Shah Rukh Khan films such as Swades, Don, Veer Zaara and By. Saroj Khan famous song choreography Dola Re Dola, with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit from the 2002 film by Shah Rukh Khan Devdas, won him a national award for best choreography.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Baazigar co-star Kajol also shared a heartbreaking note remembering Saroj Khan: “She taught me so much that I always used everywhere in many other ways. When she danced, it was like looking at an entire book ! “
Madhuri Dixit, who co-starred with Shah Rukh in Devdas, and was the star of several iconic songs choreographed by Saroj Khan, wrote in his condolence message: “I am devastated and short of words today! Saroj ji was part of my journey from the start”, writes- she.
Saroj Khan died of a cardiac arrest in Mumbai on Friday. She was 71 years old. Saroj Khan’s last choreographed song remains Tabah Ho Gaye of Kalank.
