India feels the absence of a prime minister with the “depth” of Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said today in wishing the former prime minister his 88th birthday today.

Rahul Gandhi, who was one of the first to wish Dr Singh, also praised him for his “honesty, decency and dedication”, which he said was an inspiration to others.

“India feels the absence of a Prime Minister with the depth of Dr Manmohan Singh. His honesty, decency and dedication is an inspiration to all of us. Wishing him a very happy birthday and a happy new year coming soon, ”Gandhi tweeted using the hashtag HappyBirthdayDrMMSingh.

Congress declared that Dr Singh was a dedicated leader who was always committed to the general welfare of every Indian.

“The main goal of a dedicated leader is always to eradicate the worst evils plaguing society in the fastest and safest way possible. Today we celebrate the commitment of the former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, towards the general welfare of every Indian, ”he tweeted. .

Gujarat Congressman Hardik Patel, meanwhile, credited Dr Singh with good governance and strengthening the Indian economy during his tenure as the country’s prime minister.

“Happy Birthday to the great economist, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. May God keep you healthy and assure you longevity. Thanks to Dr Saheb the country has been strengthened financially, today the public remembers of the solid good governance of Manmohan Singh. Jai Ho, ”he tweeted in Hindi.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was born in Gag, now Pakistan, on September 26, 1932. Mr. Singh is an economist turned politician and prime minister from 2004 to 2014.

Manmohan Singh, who was the first Sikh in office, was also the first prime minister since Jawaharlal Nehru to be re-elected after a full five-year term. Mr. Singh’s political career began in 1991 when he was appointed the country’s finance minister under the leadership of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. It was the same year in which he helped usher in the “liberalization and privatization” of the Indian economy.
