New Delhi:
Respirator manufacturer AgVa responded today to Rahul Gandhi, saying that the former congress chief is not a doctor and that they would be “happy to demonstrate” their product. Some of the fans purchased to fight the coronavirus epidemic were purchased from the indigenous manufacturer AgVa through the PMCares fund, in accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Self-Reliant India” initiative.
Gandhi, who continues to attack the government over the management of the pandemic, accused him of buying substandard products.
His July 5 tweet on the subject said, “The opacity of #PMCares is: 1. Endangering the lives of Indians. 2. Ensuring that public money is used to buy substandard products.”
With that, he had tagged a news report from Huffpost, titled, “PMCARES Ventilator Maker AgVa Fudged software to hide poor performance, say former employees”.
Huffpost had reported that the technical committee of the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Delhi had declared that these ventilators – designed and modified for the treatment of coronaviruses – did not replace the high-end ventilators.
Professor Diwakar Vaish, co-founder of AgVa Healthcare, said the allegations were the result of upsetting the foreign cartel that supplies high-end ventilators to India.
“Our fan is 5 to 10 times cheaper, it normally costs 10 to 15 lakh, ours is 1.5 lakh. The link with international suppliers is very strong in this market, will they appreciate the success of indigenous products? ” he said.
