The government on Thursday asked for agency proposals for the overhaul of the prime minister’s official website, which will be available in six UN languages and 22 planned Indian languages.
The Prime Minister’s current website is accessible in 12 languages.
The government is seeking to hire a qualified and experienced agency with experience in website design, development and maintenance, according to a call for proposals (RFP) launched by the National Electronic Governance Division ( NeGD).

The six languages of the United Nations are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
The list of Indian languages includes Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepalese, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
There will be a single website with an option for pre-selected entities to design, develop, operate, maintain, translate and transliterate the language selection of the PM India website by the website visitor.
The proposed website may indicate or recommend the language based on a variety of other factors, including geolocation and language selection history.
“The static content as well as the dynamic content of the portal must be translated and transliterated. The content will be provided to the selected agency in searchable Word / PDF format in English or Hindi,” the document said.
It is proposed that the new website integrates all popular social media platforms in real time, including social media platforms integrated with the existing website.
“The feed of the Prime Minister’s social media handles will be pulled from these platforms and made available on the website,” the document said.
The government has set July 30 as the deadline for submitting applications for the project and August 7 for final submission.
