Prime Minister Narendra Modi quoted the classic Tamil “ Tirukkural ” on Friday to emphasize that the Indian armed forces have always followed traditions of value and honor.
Addressing the troops during a surprise visit to Ladakh, Prime Minister Modi quoted the verse of the holy poet Tiruvalluvar “Maramanam manda vazhichelavu thetram yena nangey yemam padaikku”.
“That is to say the tradition and the credibility of the value, the honor, the dignified behavior, these four qualities are a reflection of the army of any country. The Indian forces have always followed this way, “said the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister quoted from the Tirukkural, which offers advice to people from all walks of life, on previous occasions as well.
The verses cited by him today come from the 766th verse under the chapter “ Padadi Matchi ” which signifies the dignity and honor of the armed forces.
Tirukkural is a classic work revered in Tamil and the old treaty deals with several subjects.
In his Independence Day speech last year, when he spoke of the “Jal-Jeevan” mission, he quoted another verse “Neer indri Amayadhu” to emphasize the importance of water.
PM Modi, explaining this verse had said: “… if the water begins to disappear, then the processes of nature are disturbed and eventually end. This triggers the process of total destruction.”
In addition, when he visited Thailand last year, he quoted the verse “Talatri tanda” on the importance of helping people use wealth and said that India and the Indians had left it. inspired.
He also published the Thai version of “Tirukkural” during his visit.
Years ago, the Prime Minister also launched the Gujarati translation of the treaty.
Addressing the General Assembly of the United Nations last year, he quoted the famous phrase of Tamil poet Kaniyan Poongundranar, “Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir”.
