BJP National Chief JP Nadda, in his speech, said that the ideals of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee were “a unique blend of regional aspirations and national unity”. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee was part of the cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru but he had resigned after the differences were accentuated with this last on the pact of Liaquat. With the help of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, he founded Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee was also president of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha from 1943 to 1946.
