Bihar election: Prime Minister Modi has visited the state four times since the start of the election campaign.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi this morning tweeted an appeal to Bihar voters to “set a new record” as voting began in 78 of the state’s 243 seats for the final phase of the biggest election in the country. country amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

“Bihar is voting for the third and final phase of national elections. I call on all voters to come out in large numbers and participate in this festival of democracy and set a new record. And yes, please wear a mask and adhere to social distancing standards, ”the Prime Minister tweeted in Hindi.

The prime minister’s appeal comes days after he spoke at more than 12 election rallies across the state, saying the state “has decided it will elect the NDA again.” Nitish Kumar – the face of the BJP-JDU association – is seeking his fourth term as Chief Minister. Earlier this week, the leader of the JDU, who has often lost his temper this election season, said it would be his last election.

PM Modi was seen sharing the stage with Nitish Kumar in several of these gatherings.

Nitish Kumar’s challenger and former MP Tejashwi Yadav spoke at more than 15 rallies amid the heat of the countryside.

More than 2.3 million voters in 15 districts are eligible to vote today. In the second phase held on November 3, 94 seats were contested, part of which was the BJP strongholds in northern Bihar. The main candidates were Tejashwi Yadav and his brother Tej Pratap Yadav.

The second phase saw 53.51% of people vote, up from 56.9% in 2015.

Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, polling times have been extended by one hour, except in areas affected by the Maoists.
