BJP chief Anil Sisodia hands over certificate to Shikhar Agarwal accused of murdering police officer

Lucknow:

A senior BJP official in Bulandshahr, western Uttar Pradesh, was photographed delivering a certificate to a man accused of conspiracy in the murder of a police officer in popular violence in the district in 2018.

BJP Bulandshahr President Anil Sisodia was chief guest at an event hosted on July 14 by “Pradhan Mantri Jan Kalyankari Yogi Jagrukta Abhiyan”, an organization that claims to publicize central government programs across the country and claims to have the best BJP leaders as mentors. .

In the widely circulated photo, Mr. Sisodia presents a certificate to Shikhar Agarwal, the former youth wing chief of the local BJP, accused of conspiracy in the murder of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh in Bulandshahr in 2018.

Agarwal is currently on bail.

The certificate given to Agarwal declares him “secretary general” of the organization.

In 2018, Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was attacked by a crowd of around 400 people on his way to restore calm in the region after violence erupted because of rumors of illegal cows being slaughtered.

Police said that a man with an ax cut two fingers and hit the police on the head. Others shot him dead. His body was found inside his official police vehicle, abandoned in a field.

“The organization has nothing to do with the BJP. I have been invited only as a chief guest. There is nothing more to say,” said Sisodia on the phone.

However, an official of the BJP’s Bulandshahr unit, Sanjeev Agarwal, tweeted that “the BJP or other officials have nothing to do with this institution”. “The appointment was made by the Prime Minister’s awareness campaign committee and the BJP district president, Anil Sisodia, was a main guest. The BJP or other officials have nothing to do with this institution”, Sanjeev Agarwal tweeted.

In August 2019, seven of the 33 men accused of inciting violence and riots in the case, including Agarwal, were released on bail.

They were greeted with garlands and chants of “Jai Shri Ram” by right-wing activists after their release from prison, causing controversy.

“Making allegations is one thing, proving that a case is different. I have never done anything wrong in my life,” Agarwal said in a statement later.
