Washington:

One person died and 11 others were injured in a shootout in the US city of Minneapolis, police said on Sunday.

The images broadcast live on Facebook showed at least one person lying on the sidewalk as dozens of people gathered – some shouting for medical help.

Other images appeared to show broken windows and police cars at the scene.

“12 people were injured by gunshots,” Minneapolis police wrote on Twitter, “1 adult man has died and 11 have no fatal injuries.”

They did not give the age of the deceased man or whether anyone had been arrested.

Minneapolis has been a center of protests against racism and police violence that have spread to the United States since George Floyd, a black man, died while being held by a white officer.
