Vigilance detectives on Tuesday carried out simultaneous raids on various properties of AEE Rabindra Nath Pradhan in Bhubaneswar and other locations on the basis of the allegation of asset acquisition disproportionate to known sources of income.

Pradhan’s other properties included two double-story buildings, a one-room house, eight plots, two four-wheeled vehicles, deposits in different banks, investments in insurance policies, gold and silver ornaments, cash and household items, according to a vigilance release.

The official said two of the companies were in real estate and construction and the third was in food processing and preservation. In addition, his son also has a partnership company specializing in agricultural products.

Pradhan was brought before the special court of the vigilante judge of Bhubaneswar who sent him into judicial detention until November 3. The court also denied his request for bail, according to the official note.

Vigilance SP Mr. Radhakrushna said Pradhan’s case was the first of its kind in Odisha Vigilance’s history.
