New Delhi:
Congress today launched steps to disqualify Sachin Pilot and other dissident Rajasthan MPs for anti-party activities. Nineteen rebels were notified by the President of the Assembly and asked to respond by Friday. The move is expected to give the Rajasthan Congressional government an advantage by lowering the majority score during a ground test. Sachin Pilot, whose rebellion has pushed the Congressional government to the limit, is expected to speak to the media later today.
The notice to Sachin Pilot and other rebel deputies asked why they should not be disqualified for anti-party activity and for skipping two meetings of congressional legislators.
Sachin Pilot was sacked as deputy chief minister and fired Tuesday as head of the state congress. Two other ministers who joined him in his revolt were also removed from office.
“The truth can be harassed but not defeated,” replied Sachin Pilot in a tweet. Later, he added: “My sincere thanks and gratitude to all who came to support me today. Ram Ram Sa!” His supporters said that their leader’s “public humiliation” was “totally unacceptable” to them and that those who abused him should be punished.
