No trucks entered Mizoram from Assam on Tuesday due to the blockade of National Route 306 connecting the two states, police said.

Vairengte police station official Lalchawimawia said no trucks and other vehicles entered from Assam on Tuesday due to the blockade in the neighboring state following the border dispute between the two states.

He said there had been no further incidents at the Mizoram-Assam border following the death of an Assam resident in a Vairengte hospital.

He said the body of Intazul Ali Laskar, 45, who died in a hospital in Vairengte on Monday was handed over to his relatives on Tuesday morning.

The man was arrested with 420 mg of heroin in Vairengte by staff of the State Department of Excise and Narcotics. While Mizoram officials claimed Laskar was a drug trafficker, his relatives alleged he was kidnapped and murdered.

Meanwhile, Lalhriatzuali Ralte, director of food, civilian supplies and consumption of Mizoram, said that 8 Mizoram trucks carrying oil and LPG started the journey from Manipur via Churachandpur on the Higway national road. -102B or Guite after lifting the shipment on Tuesday.

Truckers will likely arrive in Aizawl on Wednesday evening, she said.

She said a welcome reception will be organized upon their arrival in the state on Wednesday.
