Kaziranga (Assam):
A four-day-old rhino was rescued from staff at Kaziranga National Park on Sunday, where flooding caused enormous damage to life and property. Efforts are underway to reunite the calf with its mother.
A 3-4 day old baby rhino was rescued by Kaziranga National Park staff at 10:30 am today and taken to our Center for Rehabilitation and Conservation of Wildlife (CWRC) for further sightings “said Sailendra Pandey, public relations manager at Environment and Forestry Minister Parimal Suklabaidya.
“Every effort will be made to reunite him with his mother,” he added.
More than 56 lakh people have been affected by the floods, which have caused massive destruction in 30 districts of Assam, according to a daily situation report released on Sunday.
According to the report, a total of 56,89584 people have been affected in 30 districts of Assam since May 22, and 109 people have lost their lives in flood-related incidents.
