IPC Article 363 case registered, police said (Representation)

Indore:

A woman claiming to be a nurse allegedly abducted a newborn boy from the government-run Maharaja Yeshwantrao (MYH) hospital here in Madhya Pradesh, police said on Monday.

CCTV footage shows an unidentified woman entering the hospital ward on Sunday evening and carrying the newborn baby after telling her mother her pulse was slowing and that he needed to be medically examined, said Rajiv Tripathi, head of the hospital. Sanyogitaganj police station.

The boy was born around 5 a.m. on Sunday and was kidnapped around 6 p.m. the same day, he said.

Police said the accused was accompanied by another woman.

“It seems that the woman is familiar with the premises of the MYH hospital,” police said, adding that a search had been launched by the police.

A case has been registered under section 363 (Punishment for kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the officer added.
