Bombay:
Mumbai police investigation confirmed by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) ruling out murder in actor Sushant Singh Rajput case, city police commissioner Param Bir Singh said on Saturday .
Some people with “special interests” targeted Mumbai police without knowing anything about the investigation, he said.
The AIIMS medical council said on Saturday that Sushant Rajput had died by suicide and that it was not a murder.
Mr Singh said the city police investigation was professional, and the doctors at the city’s Cooper Hospital who performed the autopsy also did their job thoroughly.
“We are all confirmed by these findings of AIIMS,” said the police commissioner.
The Supreme Court upheld the transfer of the Bihar police case to the Rajput case and not the Mumbai police investigation, Singh said.
“The court found no flaws in our investigation,” he said.
Mr Singh said city police submitted an investigation report to the higher court under sealed cover and was seen by only six people – the investigator, the senior police inspector, the deputy commissioner of police, commissioner of police, state attorney general and judge.
“Without knowing anything about our investigation and without having seen our report, certain vested interests criticized our investigation,” he said.
Sushant Rajput, 34, was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14. A section of the media had suggested that it could be a murder.
The CBI had resumed the Bihar police investigation into the alleged incitement to suicide filed by the father of actor KK Singh in Patna against Sushant Rajput’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty and her family.
