Lucknow:

On Friday, the Allahabad High Court sought the position of the Uttar Pradesh government on the appeal of a Mumbai resident, arrested for allegedly threatening to “detonate” Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath.

A Lucknow bench from the High Court asked the government position on Kamran Amin Khan, a Mumbai resident, who allegedly issued the threat in a WhatsApp message to the UP 112 police hotline.

Judge Alok Mathur’s bench asked Uttar Pradesh police to respond to Khan’s call before July 15, the next hearing date.

According to the prosecution, Khan sent the WhatsApp message on May 21 of this year to the mobile phone used for the social media office at 112 headquarters.

Gomati Nagar station house officer Dheeraj Kumar then filed an FIR on May 22 on the basis of the threat message.

The FIR was filed under sections 505 (1) (b) (to make statements intended to cause alarm in public), 505 (2) (to make statements creating class hatred), 506 (to make criminal intimidation), 507 (intimidating by anonymous communication) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and section 66 (F) of the Information Technology Act.

On May 26, Khan was arrested by a team from the Uttar Pradesh task force in Mumbai.

On Friday, at the preliminary bail hearing, supplementary government lawyer Rao Narendra Singh vehemently opposed it, saying the accused is “a threat to society and the system” and that he should be kept in prison.

Khan’s lawyer, Vivek Chandra, said his client had committed the offense in frustration, however.

He also argued that no case, as alleged by the police, has been established against Khan.

“All offenses are natural in nature, except that provided for in article 505 (1) (b) of the ICC, but this offense does not result from the allegations of the prosecution,” he said, arguing for release. on bail from Khan.
