Pune:

Three people were arrested as they planned to throw tennis balls filled with marijuana at Kalamba prison in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra for an associate who had been housed there, an official said on Thursday.

During a patrol on Wednesday, some police officers found three men wandering around a wall in Kalamba prison with three tennis balls in their hands.

“When inquiring, they told the police that they were from Pune. The cops on duty were wary of their presence in the sensitive and forbidden area,” said the head of Juna Rajwada police station in Kolhapur.

Police seized three tennis balls with duct tape from their possession, he said.

“Upon opening, marijuana was found inside the bullets,” the official said, adding that the three men were planning to throw the bullets filled with contraband into the prison for one of their associates staying there. .
