Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said today he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Mr. Singh shared the news on his Twitter account earlier today.
He also called on everyone who came in contact with him to get tested.

A number of union ministers have contracted the virus which has affected more than 88 lakh in India. Union Interior Minister Amit Shah tested positive and then cured of COVID-19. Karnataka’s chief minister, BS Yediyurappa, also tested positive for the virus and was hospitalized for some time.
Other ministers who tested positive include Nitin Gadkari, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister Ayush Shirpad Naik, Junior Minister of Agriculture Kailash Choudhary, Junior Minister of Heavy Industries and Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal and the Minister of Oil Dharmendra Pradhan, among others. A number of MPs and MPs across the country have also tested positive.
Coronavirus cases in India now stand at 88.14 lakh with a jump of 41,100 cases in the past 24 hours, according to government data today. 447 deaths in the last 24 hours brought the total number of deaths to 1,29,635.
India has reported a steady decline in its daily coronavirus infections after peaking at around 90,000 cases per day in September. The country has the second highest number of coronavirus infections in the world after the United States.
