Seeking ways to revive an economy hit by the coronavirus crisis, Maharashtra is ready to sign 12 major contracts with companies around the world, including the United States, China, South Korea and Singapore, and the India later today.

The investment reports come in the context of state industrial production which has suffered a severe blow due to the foreclosure of the coronavirus.

Although Maharashtra has reopened more than 60,000 industries that employ nearly 15 lakh people, the state, which is most affected by coronaviruses in India, is preparing to restart its commercial activities with virus prevention measures in place.

In one of his addresses earlier, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had asked “sons and daughters of the soil” to come forward and take the opportunity to work for the state. The call came as thousands of migrant workers left the state due to the coronavirus pandemic, which poses a great challenge to the resumption of economic activity.
