Pune:
30-year-old man reportedly kidnapped and tortured by three men, including his employer, in Kothrud, Maharashtra for a financial dispute over the victim’s stay in Delhi over company money during the foreclosure, announced Sunday the police.
Although the alleged incident occurred on June 13 and 14 at the firm’s office, an FIR was not filed until July 2 at the Paud police station, an official said.
The complainant previously worked as director of the firm which organizes exhibitions of artists’ paintings, he said.
He had gone to Delhi for official work in March, but got stuck there because of the coronavirus lockout, he said.
The complainant stayed in a lodge in Delhi and spent the money given to him by his office, the manager said.
“After returning to Pune on May 7, the complainant’s employer asked him to be quarantined in a hotel for 17 days. Having no money, he mortgaged his phone and debit card before the start, “he said, citing the FIR.
On June 13, the business owner and his assistant demanded money from the complainant and put him in a car, the official said.
“They took him to the company office where he was detained. The owner and two others beat him and sprayed disinfectant on his private parts,” said the official.
They released him later, he said. The complainant was admitted to a private hospital and filed an FIR on Thursday.
A further investigation is underway. No arrests have been made so far.
