Aurangabad:

Even as people try to find different ways to overcome boredom during isolation, a man and his son from a village in Maharashtra have decided to use time to dig a well to solve the problem of the shortage of water. in their area.

As if nature were so happy and decided to support them in their efforts, they managed to find water after digging to a depth of about 16 feet in the ground.

The family, living in the village of Mulzara in the district of Nanded, are now delighted to have water available to them at all times.

Siddharth Devake said the idea of doing something constructive hit him after he stopped working as a rickshaw driver because of the lockout.

He also used to work with a local group, but following movement restrictions to contain the spread of COVID-19, his two sources of income dried up.

To make matters worse, they also faced a water shortage and had to walk to a source some distance in the village to fetch water for their daily needs.

Mr. Devake then had the idea of using the lockout time to dig a well in the premises of their residence.

“Because of the lockout, there were no customers for my auto rickshaw service. The local group I worked with also had to close and we suffered losses. My son and I we had enough of sitting at home and so we decided to dig a well to solve the water problem, “he said.

While Mr. Devake was digging the ground, his teenage son Pankaj descended into the pit to clean up the mud.

“I used to fill mud in a bucket and my father lifted it. We went down like this to 16 feet and now we have water here,” said the son.

Devake said the two worked on the project for three to four days and were able to create a water source in their own residential space.

“Now my children can get water from the well when they need it,” he said cheerfully.
