The government of Maharashtra has set up committees chaired by district collectors to monitor treatment.

Mumbai:

The government of Maharashtra has set up committees led by district collectors to monitor treatment and health facilities in COVID hospitals.

A government resolution on this issue has been released recently, which also states that COVID hospitals must have video surveillance facilities, which should be made available during committee visits.

Each hospital must have a helpline where relatives can call or meet with the patient, said Minister of Health Rajesh Tope, who added that the decision to form committees in all districts except Mumbai, was based on an order of the Supreme Court.

“The district civilian surgeon, municipal commissioners, deans of medical schools, cardiologists, members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), among others, will be members. There will be a separate committee of 12 members for Mumbai which will be headed by the municipal commissioner. ” officials said.

All committees will report to the Chief Secretary.
