Mumbai:

Maharashtra BJP chairman Chandrakant Patil said on Sunday that corruption had taken place in the state during the management of COVID-19 and that his party would raise the issue once the pandemic ended.

Speaking to journalists in Kolhapur, he said it was commendable that the situation of COVID-19 in the Dharavi slum was under control, but asked if it had happened thanks to the efforts of the state government or RSS workers.

“If a good job has been done in Dharavi, it is commendable. But the question is whether the turnaround in Dharavi occurred thanks to the efforts of the state government or the workers of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), who risked their lives and ran homes – home screening of people, “he said.

The former minister added that the RSS volunteers had admitted the residents of Dharavi to the hospital with the help of the Brihanmubai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

“If COVID-19 is under control in Mumbai, we are happy, but are we not supposed to be talking about the corruption that took place in the leadership of COVID-19,” he said.

He added that there were irregularities in the purchase of bags for the corpses.

“The equipment for COVID centers in Goregaon and other parts of Mumbai was purchased on a rental basis when it was available at an affordable price,” he added.

“Let the situation with the coronaviruses end, we will raise all these questions in the Assembly. We will raise the question of who won the contracts … We will establish the links,” he added.
