Several Bollywood stars and fashion icons paid tribute to the deceased creator on social media a few days after his death in February. Anushka Sharma, who was spotted by the late designer during a fashion show in Bangalore, in a long article wrote: “He was one of the most iconic and original fashion designers and a champion of LGBT rights. He gave me the opportunity to close his fashion show in Mumbai after I having spotted Bengaluru at a fashion show and was courteous, kind and supportive. “

Malaika Arora, the muse of Wendell Rodricks for many years, wrote in his funeral eulogy: “The master couturier and his muse. I first sat down and cried, then I sat alone and I smiled and laughed, thinking of all the beautiful memories and moments that we shared. “

Besides design and activism, Wendell Rodricks has made cameo appearances in Bollywood films such as Boom (2003), Fashion (2008), with Priyanka Chopra, and Fan (2016). He received the Padma Shri – the fourth highest civilian honor – in 2014.
