Model-turned-actress Lisa Ray pays emotional tribute to late designer Wendell Rodricks Thursday on the occasion of his 60th anniversary of death. Sharing a photo of her with legendary designer Lisa Ray, who has walked the ramp for him several times, wrote: “Today is Wendell’s 60th birthday. He has left a wonderful legacy for anyone to soak up. I love you my friend. “Wendell Rodricks died at his home in Goa on February 12 this year. He was an active gay rights activist and is survived by his partner Jerome Marrel.

Several Bollywood stars and fashion icons paid tribute to the deceased creator on social media a few days after his death in February. Anushka Sharma, who was spotted by the late designer during a fashion show in Bangalore, in a long article wrote: “He was one of the most iconic and original fashion designers and a champion of LGBT rights. He gave me the opportunity to close his fashion show in Mumbai after I having spotted Bengaluru at a fashion show and was courteous, kind and supportive. “
Malaika Arora, the muse of Wendell Rodricks for many years, wrote in his funeral eulogy: “The master couturier and his muse. I first sat down and cried, then I sat alone and I smiled and laughed, thinking of all the beautiful memories and moments that we shared. “
Besides design and activism, Wendell Rodricks has made cameo appearances in Bollywood films such as Boom (2003), Fashion (2008), with Priyanka Chopra, and Fan (2016). He received the Padma Shri – the fourth highest civilian honor – in 2014.
