Actor Soumitra Chatterjee, one of Bengal’s most famous actors, has passed away today. He was 85 years old. Mr Chatterjee tested positive for COVID-19 last month and was taken to hospital.
Soumitra Chatterjee was admitted to hospital on October 6, just a day after testing positive for COVID-19. The actor tested negative shortly after a week on October 14, but remained admitted due to health complications, particularly COVID-19-induced encephalopathy.
Days after Mr Chatterjee tested negative, doctors said he was recovering and would be able to walk in a few days. However, on October 25, Dr Arindam Kar, who led the medical team treating Mr Chatterjee, said: “You all know he is not keeping himself well. His consciousness, despite our best efforts, is not improving. not. On the contrary, it has fallen. “
