RJD chief Lalu Yadav, who is serving a prison sentence in Ranchi on fodder fraud cases, wished his youngest son Tejashwi Yadav on Monday his 31st birthday, saying Bihar residents would give him a gift on Tuesday, when the results of the national elections are announced.
The counting of votes in the Bihar polls will take place on November 10. Almost all exit polls predicted a victory for the Grand Alliance led by the RJD, which screened Tejashwi Yadav as its top ministerial candidate.
Sources close to the family said that Tejashwi Yadav called Lalu Yadav’s aide number several times around midnight to speak to his father, but fell asleep by then.
The young RJD leader called the number again at 6 a.m. Monday but could not speak, the sources added.
As soon as Lalu Yadav woke up, he reminded and wished Tejashwi Yadav on his birthday, the sources said.
