Chennai:
Actor-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar, who joined the BJP earlier this month, was arrested by police in Chengalpattu district in Tamil Nadu today as she was on her way to lead a protest against a politician for his remarks on the ancient Hindu text Manusmriti.
In a recent address to a group, Thol Thirumavalavan, the leader of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) claimed that the Manusmriti religious text belittles women and that Manu Dharma treats them like prostitutes. The politician had called for a ban on Manusmriti.
