On Monday morning, Mumbai came to a halt after a massive power outage in several parts of the city. Amitabh Bachchan, known for his quick tweets, was the first celebrity to share an update on Twitter. Mr Bachchan said he connected to the internet via a dongle to get in touch with his fans for a quick word. Urging everyone to stay calm and be patient, Big B tweeted: “The whole town has gone out of power … sort of dealing with this post … keep calm it’s going to be fine.” Several commuter trains on the Central Line and West Line were affected due to the power outage, as were traffic lights in various parts of the city.

A power outage in several parts of Mumbai was reported just after 10 a.m. on Monday, shortly thereafter the electricity supplier – Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) – tweeted: “The power supply is interrupted due to the electrical arrival of TATA a supply failure. The disadvantages are regretted. “
Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut shed some light on the matter and said: “Due to a technical problem in circuit 2 of the Kalva-Padghe plant, the areas between Thane and Mumbai are faced with a power cut. ” In a tweet at 11:35 am, he added: “It will be restored in about an hour.”
