State government also increased salaries for contract (representational) doctors

Bengaluru:

The Karnataka health department on Thursday authorized the district health departments to appoint doctors with MBBS, on a contractual basis with the permission of the concerned district health officials and commissioners, according to a statement.

The state government has also increased the salaries of contract doctors from Rs 45,000 to Rs 60,000 per month.

Earlier in the day, Karnataka’s Minister of Health, B Sriramulu, urged contract physicians to continue to offer their services amid their demand for regularization of services.

“I ask the contract physicians with hands together to continue to offer their services. Regarding their two requests, one for a salary increase and the other for permanence, I assure them all that I support them and that their requests will be definitively satisfied , “said Mr. Sriramulu.

The chief minister also discussed the two issues yesterday and agreed to facilitate the wage hike, he added.
