Los Angeles:

Rapper Kanye West voted for himself on Tuesday as the next US president after a long-drawn-out campaign marked by erratic statements and speculation he could siphon black votes from Democrat Joe Biden.

Late Tuesday night, the singer and fashion designer appeared to admit his 2020 candidacy was over, but suggested his quest was not over. He posted a photo of himself in front of an electoral card saying “WELCOME KANYE 2024”.

Earlier, the singer and fashion designer tweeted that he was “voting for the President of the United States for the first time in my life, and this is for someone I really trust … in myself” .

He then posted a video of himself voting in Cody, Wyoming, where he registered on the ballot.

West, 43, has run for president in a handful of states, but not in battlefields like Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan. He has spent the past few weeks teaching his followers how to vote for him as a registered candidate elsewhere.

West’s famous wife Kim Kardashian did not appear to support his candidacy. She gave no public endorsement from her husband and on Tuesday she retweeted a message on the hotlines of Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

West, once one of Trump’s biggest supporters, kicked off his campaign for the White House in July with erratic statements that raised concerns about his mental health. The 21 Grammy Award winner said in 2018 he suffers from bipolar disorder.

West loaned $ 6.7 million to his campaign, according to a filing with the Federal Election Commission, and in a recent video highlighted religion and family values.
