Bombay:
Mumbai police on Wednesday called on actor Kangana Ranaut and his sister Rangoli Chandel to appear before them on November 23 and 24 respectively for their “objectionable comments” on social media aimed at spreading community tensions.
This is the third time that Mumbai Police have requested the actor to appear before Bandra Police on this matter. They had previously been invited to attend on October 26 and 27 respectively, but did not appear. They were then invited to appear on November 9 and 10, but they did not.
Kangana Ranaut had informed police that she was busy with a family wedding and that she will be available after November 15.
Mumbai police sent the second notice to Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel on November 3 and ordered them to appear before them on November 9 and 10 respectively. The two sisters were selected for allegedly promoting enmity between communities through social media posts.
On October 21, the Bandra police sent a notice to Kangana and her sister to record the statements in the case. Ms Ranaut’s lawyer then informed police that she was in Himachal Pradesh and was busy preparing for the wedding.
Metropolitan Bandra Magistrates’ Court last month ordered police to investigate a complaint filed by Bollywood casting director and fitness trainer Munawwar Ali Sayyed, referring to Ms Ranaut’s tweets and other statements and his sister.
Bandra Police then registered an FIR against Ms Ranaut and her sister under various sections of the law, such as promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion, race, deliberate acts of prejudice religious sentiments, sedition and common intention and also asked them to appear. in front of the police.
