Poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar lodged a libel suit against actor Kangana Ranaut in a Mumbai court for making “baseless allegations” against him in comments to the media about the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the PTI news agency reported.
In the case filed with the metropolitan magistrate of Andheri, west Mumbai, Javed Akhtar brought an action under the Indian penal code against Kangana Ranaut for defamation, PTI reported.
In the complaint, Javed Akhtar said Kangana Ranaut made “baseless comments” which “damaged the reputation”. The complaint alleged that Kangana Ranaut had dragged her name by referring to a “coterie” in Bollywood when mentioning the death of Sushant Singh Rajput in the media.
Kangana Ranaut has criticized sections of Bollywood for nepotism and lack of transparency. After Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai home in June, Kangana Ranaut posted a two-minute video speaking praising him and alleging he was a victim of nepotism in the film industry.
In a separate case, Mumbai police today announced to Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel to appear before them on November 10 and 11 in a case of allegedly promoting enmity between communities by their communities. remarks.
A complaint was lodged against the actor at the Bandra police station for alleged provocative speech.
On October 21, the duo received a notice asking them to appear before officials to record the statements in the case. However, Kangana Ranaut’s lawyer responded by saying that she was in Himachal Pradesh and busy with her cousin brother’s wedding preparations.
