Chandigarh:
Ishwar Singh, 72, an MP for Haryana’s Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), appeared for first-year exams for his postgraduate degree in political science, the JJP said on Sunday.
Guhla Cheeka’s deputy, who has already obtained a master’s degree in public administration, history and law, took the exams at Kurukshetra University, the party said in a statement.
As a private student, MP Ishwar Singh made good use of his time during the coronavirus-induced lockdown by studying and taking exams online. This Saturday he appeared in the last article in the course of two years, ”said the JJP. .
Singh, also a former MP for Rajya Sabha, said he had passed all of his exams well, the statement said.
The JJP MP has already completed his master’s degree in public administration, history and law, the statement said.
Prior to joining politics in the 1970s, Mr. Singh worked for some time as a teacher.
He was first elected MP in 1977 and had only studied up to grade 10 until then. Shortly after, he was appointed chairman of the Haryana School Education Board.
“Even though it was a great opportunity, somewhere in the back of my mind I felt like I was going to make policies for the students when I was only 10th,” Singh said.
So he resigned from his post and decided to continue his studies, he said.
Mr. Singh passed grade 12 at the age of 34 and graduated at the age of 37. Then he did his masters in history. He completed his LLB at the age of 42.
Mr Singh said his education also helped him in politics.
Whenever you have the opportunity to learn something new, you should always put it to good use and keep moving forward in life, he said.
Mr. Singh has had a long political career. Prior to joining the JJP ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections last year, he was a member of Congress.
