Singer Jaan Kumar Sanu, who came under heavy criticism for his recent commentary on the Marathi language during an episode of Bigg Boss 14, apologized to Bigg Boss and the Marathi speaking community during Wednesday’s episode. Jaan was called to the confession room by Bigg Boss and trained in the rules of the game and told that in the series everyone is equal and no one is allowed to comment or say anything against a community or a religion. Jaan, in Tuesday’s episode, asked his compatriot Nikki Tamboli not to speak to him in Marathi.

He apologized for his position and said: “Namaste! Mera naam Jaan Kumar Sanu hai aur maine kuch dino pehle, anjaane mein hi sahi, ek galti ki thi, jis se Marathi logon ko aur unke sentiments ko these pahunchi hai. Mai iss baat ke liye bahut sincerely sorry kehna chahunga. Agar simple intentions galat aye hain apke samne, toh mai uske liye tahe dil se maafi mangna chahunga. Mera bilkul bhi intention nhi tha kia aap logo ko thes pahuchau. I’m really sorry, ”Jaan Kumar Sanu said.

Colors TV, on which the reality show hosted by Salman Khan airs, shared a video of the singer apologizing for his comment. “Jaan Kumar Sanu apologizes for his remarks regarding Marathi language made on the Bigg Boss episode aired Tuesday October 27,” read the caption of the message.

On Wednesday evening, a note of apology was shared by the official Twitter handle of Color TV, which said, “We at Colors apologize for the remarks relating to Marathi language made on the Bigg Boss episode aired on Tuesday October 27th. We had no intention of hurting the feelings of the people of Maharashtra.”

In Tuesday’s episode of Bigg Boss 14, Jaan Kumar Sanu told actress Nikki Tamboli that if she wanted to talk to him, she shouldn’t be speaking Marathi. “Marathi mei mat baat kar, simple saamne mat baat kar, merko chidh hoti hai. Sunaauga terko, simple saamne Marathi mei mat baat kar. Dum hai toh Hindi mei bol warna mat baat kar, chid machti hai merko (Don’t speak Marathi in front of me, that bothers me. Speak Hindi), ”Jaan Kumar Sanu said.
