New Delhi:

As a producer of a breakout show like Paatal lok, this is just the start for Anushka Sharma who wants to use her Bollywood star position to support unique stories and talents.

Praise for Paatal lok, created by longtime collaborator of actor Sudip Sharma, has won unanimous acclaim from critics, fraternity and the public for the way he explores caste, religion and political issues in India in a thriller format.

Anushka, who produced the Amazon Prime Video show with his brother Karnesh via their Clean Slate Filmz banner, said the idea was to support the stories without passing judgment.

The actor said she was someone who had always taken risks in her career, something she also likes to do as a producer by supporting projects like the gritty road thriller NH10, horror movie Bet and ghost comedy Phillauri and now Paatal lok.

“I recognize that I have made a career for myself and that I have made a name for myself, which is relevant. I want to be able to use the position I created with my hard work as an actor and be able to support stories, people And most importantly, let people know that in India we are able to tell unique stories without being judgmental and truly creative, “she told PTI in an email interview.

Anushka said the producers, she and Karnesh, have a number of projects lined up, including their next film Bulbbul with Netflix.

“We’ve had a few things that have already been lit green, so let’s start the writing process for them. Our slate is pretty full at Clean Slate and I think it’s a great time for Karnesh and I right now, “she said.

“For the past six years, this is what we have been working towards and we are very pleased that we can continue our vision for the company,” she said and added that there were many interest in its production. house of studios, OTT platforms for actors and technicians.

The 32-year-old actress said that as a creative person, the only condition she had for herself was pushing no program.

“As a creative person, everything is fine until you are determined by your agenda. I think for me it’s the biggest no-no. You have to support the stories, you have to be true to the stories and not your own calendars, “she said.

For now, the actor is enjoying the many memes and stories around Paatal lok and its dialogues.

Paatal lok has really become a part of our pop culture. It’s amazing what happens with the show … the memes bear witness. Several multinational brands use Paatal lok and promoting their products on the digital platform. Even people rehearse the characters’ dialogs and it’s another incredible thing to get out of it, “she said.

In a previous interview, Anushka had exclusively told PTI that the team would like to go for a second season of Paatal lok if the streaming platform showed interest.

“I don’t want to disclose too much but let’s just say it’s entirely possible. It’s too early to talk about it but yes if Amazon is ready to do it, there will certainly be a second season,” she said.

With Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Banerjee, Neeraj Kabi, Gul Panag, Ishwak Singh and Swastika Mukherjee among others, the series began broadcasting from May 15.
