Infosys has reserved a charter flight for its employees and their families stranded in the United States.

The computer giant Infosys has repatriated some of its employees and their families who were stranded in the United States due to the coronavirus crisis and visa problems. They were flown back on a charter flight. 200 people, employees and their families, were flown to Bengaluru, reaching early Monday morning. They will work from Bengaluru or other places in India.

“Some of Infosys employees were stranded in the United States due to the expiration of their visa. All international flights have been suspended due to the pandemic,” Infosys manager Sanjeev Bode wrote in a article on LinkedIn.

India has extended the ban on international flights until July 31, as the country implements its “Unlock 2” plan to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. Civil aviation regulator DGCA has declared that the ban on all international flights has been extended until July 31 and that only cargo and flights approved by the DGCA will be authorized.

Air India and other private national airlines operate unexpected international repatriation flights as part of the Vande Bharat mission, which began on May 6.

The country resumed regular domestic passenger flights on May 25, after an interval of two months since the announcement of the coronavirus shutdown in late March.

Domestic flights are operated under strict safety and social distancing guidelines.
