Dushyant Chautala asserted that farmers would have no problem selling their crop in Haryana

Chandigarh:

Haryana’s deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala said on Saturday that farmers would face no problem selling their crop in the state.

He said the crops will be purchased at the minimum support price (MSP) in all cases, according to a government statement.

The Chief Deputy Minister also visited several grain markets in Jind to take stock of the procurement process.

Interacting with farmers in Jind, Alewa and Uchana, he said the weather was favorable this year which resulted in a good harvest.

He said 38 lakh metric tonnes of paddy so far reached mandis, of which 31 lakh MT have been purchased.

Not only that, an amount of Rs 2,050 crore was also paid into farmers’ accounts, he said.

On the issue of central agricultural laws, he said the three agricultural laws recently introduced by the Center are “farm-friendly”.

With the enactment of these laws, farmers will have the freedom to sell their harvest anywhere, he said, adding that crops like mustard, pulses, corn, millet and cotton will be purchased from fixed prices.

He said that under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, only four crops were included in the first phase, but now the scope of this program has been expanded to include 11 horticultural crops, including tomato and ginger.
