India’s COVID Cases Cross 11.55 Lakh; Recovery rate at 62.72%

New Delhi:

India recorded 37,148 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to 11.55,191, including 28,084 deaths, according to government data. A total of 587 people have died from symptoms related to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Maharashtra remains the most affected state with a total of 3,27,031 cases. The second worst-affected state, Tamil Nadu, has reported a total of 1,75,678 COVID-19 cases, while Delhi has reported a total of 125,096 cases.

The Union Health Ministry said the COVID-19 recovery rate in the country was increasing day by day and was 62.72% on Tuesday.

The country’s death rate also fell significantly to 2.43% from 3.36% on June 17 due to effective clinical management of coronavirus cases, the Center said, saying the country had managed the pandemic “relatively well”.

In India, COVID-19 deaths per million population are 20.4 per million, which is among the lowest in the world, said Rajesh Bhushan, special duty officer at the Ministry of Health of the Union.
