India reported 47,638 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, 5% fewer than yesterday. The total number of cases in the country thus reached 84.11 lakh, with 1,24,985 deaths. However, the total number of active cases dropped from 7,189 to just over 5.2 lakhs. Overall recoveries amounted to 77.66 lakhs, up 54,157 since yesterday.
The nation’s capital reported 7,178 cases of the coronavirus on Friday – the highest number of cases since the pandemic hit the city earlier this year. Until now, the number of COVID-19 cases per day in Delhi has never crossed the 7,000 mark. In the past three days, Delhi has reported more than 6,000 cases of coronavirus per day. The second largest spike in cases was on November 4, when the city reported 6,842 cases.
A second wave of coronavirus has swept relentlessly across Europe, which has reported more than 12 million cases and 300,000 deaths as swathes of Italy returned to lockdown and the UK city of Liverpool tested tests at the city scale. The continent has become the new epicenter of the pandemic and a total of 300,688 deaths have been reported in Europe since the first attack of the Covid-19 virus, according to a count by AFP health authorities.

Russia says increase in COVID-19 cases “alarming”
The Kremlin said it was alarmed by an increase in COVID-19 cases, but it was too early to judge the effectiveness of its policy of trying to contain the disease without a full lockdown.
Russia reported a record daily tally of 20,582 new cases, bringing its total to 1,733,440 – the fourth in the world behind the United States, India and Brazil.
“The trend is alarming, the pandemic is growing,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on a conference call. “The situation is carefully monitored and analyzed, and action is taken collectively … taking into account the specificities of a given region,” he added.
Delhi crosses 7,000 daily coronavirus cases
The nation’s capital has reported 7,178 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours – the highest number of cases since the pandemic hit the city earlier this year. Until now, the number of COVID-19 cases per day in Delhi has never passed the 7,000 mark.
In the past three days, Delhi had reported more than 6,000 coronavirus cases per day. The second largest spike in cases was on November 4, when the city reported 6,842 cases.
The cases are now at 4,23,831. Government data shows that 64 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours, and the death rate stands at 1.6%, while the cure rate is 89%.
