India reported a sharp drop in new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the past 24 hours, with data from the Ministry of Health released Tuesday morning showing 61,267 new cases of coronavirus. With this, the total number of Covid cases in India crossed 66.85 lakh with a total number of deaths at 1.03,569, of which 884 were in 24 hours.

According to Johns Hopkins University, which compiles data on COVID-19 from around the world, there has been a slight drop in the 7-day average of new confirmed cases each day in India.

The country now has 919,023 active cases of COVID-19 and more than 56.6 lakh recovered with an additional 75,787 people battling the disease in the past 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
