Claiming that the United States has never been more supportive of India’s security, he said New Delhi was also an important partner and a key pillar in President Trump’s foreign policy.

“We don’t just interact on a bilateral basis. We see each other for what we are great democracies, world powers and very good friends. India is one of the few trusted, like-minded countries that I regularly call on leaders for advice and collaboration on issues that span continents, ”said Pompeo.

“I am convinced that our relationship is only getting stronger. Let us emerge from this current challenge more resilient and innovative than before. And seize this moment to deepen the cooperation between two of the largest democracies in the world,” he added. .

Mr Pompeo said the United States has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the next G7 meeting which will be hosted by President Trump.

“We will advance the network of economic prosperity. It is the group of countries and organizations with which we consider natural partners with whom we share values ​​such as democracy, transparency and the rule of law,” Mr Pompeo said.

The Group of Seven (G-7) is an intergovernmental international economic organization made up of seven major developed countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, which are among the IMF’s largest advanced economies. in the world.

Mr Pompeo also said he was happy to report that India is a growing US defense and security partner in the Indo-Pacific and globally.

“I am convinced that with our concerted efforts we can protect our interests,” he said.

“We re-launched the so-called quad that included the United States, India, Japan and Australia. India is also part of a group of like-minded countries that I have regularly brought together for promote common interests, ”he said.
