Priyanka Gandhi said she was on the phone with the woman’s father when he learned of her death.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, amid national outrage over the nightly cremation by Uttar Pradesh police of the woman who died of horrific injuries after being gang-raped and tortured, said the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had “no moral rights” to continue in office.
In a series of tweets, Priyanka Gandhi said she was on the phone with the woman’s father when he learned of her death.
“I was on the phone with the father of the Hathras victim when he was informed that his daughter had died. I heard him scream in despair,” tweeted the Congress Secretary General.
“He had just told me that all he wanted was justice for his child. Last night he was deprived of the chance to bring his daughter home for the last time and perform her final rites … Instead of protecting the victim and her family, your government has become an accomplice in depriving her of all his human rights, even in the event of death. You have no moral right to continue as chief minister, ”she tweeted.

In one video, the 20-year-old’s father is seen falling apart while on the phone with Priyanka Gandhi. He handed the phone to a relative who was sitting with him.
Priyanka Gandhi is heard asking if arrangements have been made for the woman to be taken to her home for the final rites. She also asks what the family would like.
“We want justice, we want the criminals to be hanged,” cried the relative.
In horrific events last night, UP police transported the body of the woman from a Delhi hospital to her village of Hathras, 200 km away, and went straight to the burial cemetery and cremated the body, refusing to hand it over to his family.
When the woman was cremated at 2:30 a.m., only a few police officers were present. His family was reportedly locked in their homes and the parents and villagers were kept apart by a human chain of cops.
