Responding to the media on the issue, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the decision had weight given that rigor was needed at the border between Delhi and Haryana.

“The Interior Ministry has issued directives that all interstate borders should be opened. We also decided to open them. But later Delhi said that the borders should not be opened yet,” said Mr. Khattar at a virtual press conference. , said.

“Our borders were already closed, but when the Delhi government declared that they should not be opened, we felt that what they were saying had weight. The rigor should be there for now along the way. border between Delhi and Haryana, “he added.

The chief minister has said he will hold talks with the Delhi government because there should be a consensus on interstate issues.

“MHA said these borders should be open, but if states want to make arrangements for their termination, they can do so,” he said.

“With other states, our borders are open. There is no difficulty,” said Khattar.

On Sunday, the Haryana government released new guidelines for the next phase of the coronavirus shutdown, opening its borders to Delhi and other states.

Earlier, the state sealed its borders with Delhi, citing an increase in the number of infections in neighboring districts of the national capital.

On Monday, the AAP government led by Arvind Kejriwal ordered Delhi’s borders closed for a week following the increase in coronavirus cases.
