New Delhi:

A new fund of 75,000 crore rupees has been announced by Google to help accelerate India’s digital economy, its chief executive officer Sundar Pichai said today, saying that “we are proud to support” the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Today at #GoogleForIndia we announced a new $ 10 billion digitization fund to accelerate the digital economy in India. We are proud to support PM @ narendramodi’s vision for digital India – thanks to Minister @rsprasad and Minister @DrRPPNishank for joining us “, Google CEO, 48, wrote in a tweet.

“This reflects our confidence in the future of India and its digital economy,” said Pichai during a webcast at the annual Google for India event.

“The investments will focus on four areas important for the digitization of India,” Google said in a statement. “First, allow all Indians to access affordable prices and obtain information in their own language, be it Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi or any other language. Second, create new products and services that are deeply tailored to India’s unique needs, or embark on their digital transformation. Fourth, leverage technology and AI for social good, in areas like health, education and agriculture, “he said.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi tweeted that he had “an extremely fruitful interaction” with Mr. Pichai. “We have spoken on a wide range of subjects, including harnessing the power of technology to transform the lives of Indian farmers, youth and entrepreneurs,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

In another article, PM Modi wrote: “During our interaction, @sundarpichai and I talked about the new work culture that emerged in the days of COVID-19. We discussed the challenges that the global pandemic has brought brought to areas like sports. We also talked about the importance of data security and cybersecurity. “
