Panaji:

Goa Minister and BJP MP Michael Lobo said on Monday that rave nights were held in private villas in the state’s coastal belt, even during the COVID-19 pandemic where drugs are being consumed, a few days after a similar party was arrested by police.

The minister, who represents the coastal riding of Calangute, was responding to a question about the raid on Vagator on the night of August 15.

Mr Lobo said such parties are held on behalf of the birthday party or some other program where drugs are used.

“There are guesthouses, resorts that are closed to the general public but rave parties are held there in the name of birthday or some other function during the pandemic,” he said, adding that drugs were consumed during these festivals.

He said the state government would blow the whip to stem the threat.
