France on Tuesday handed India ventilators, test kits and other medical equipment as part of its help in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The medical equipment was handed over to the Indian Red Cross by the French Ambassador to India Emmanuel Lenain at the Palam Air Force Station after the assistance equipment was transported to Delhi on an army plane French air.
“Delighted to hand over COVID-19 medical equipment from France to Shri RK Jain, Secy General @IndianRedCross,” Lenain tweeted with photos of the handover.
“France had previously granted 200 million euros in financial assistance to India via @AFD_en (French development agency). With the CSR committee @ IFCCI1, French companies have also contributed to relief efforts in India”, did he declare.
President Emmanuel Macron had recently announced the donation of medical equipment to India, as well as the provision of technical expertise, according to a statement from the French Embassy.
As part of this medical assistance package, France is donating to India 50 Osiris-3 ventilators and 70 Yuwell 830 ventilators with BiPAP mode, he specified.
Osiris ventilators are particularly useful for emergency transport, intra-hospital transfer and recovery. They have different modes of ventilation, including non-invasive ventilation, he says.
Yuwell 830 ventilators have two-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) – a non-invasive technique for delivering oxygen to the lungs without intubation. These high-quality ventilators meet the needs of Indian hospitals, the embassy said.
The donation from France also includes 50,000 high-quality IgG / IgM serological test kits and 50,000 nose and throat swabs and medical transport modes, the statement said.
The equipment was transported on a French Air Force A330 MRTT fitted with a Morpheus kit, which allows the transport of seriously ill patients.
