Rasheed Masood had won Lok Sabha’s election in 1989 as candidate Janata Dal

Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh:

Former Union Minister Rasheed Masood died today in a retirement home in Roorkee at the age of 73.

Mr Masood was recently admitted to the nursing home for the management of certain post-COVID complications, the nephew of former Union Minister Imran Masood said.

Imran Masood, a former MP, told the PTI news agency that his uncle Rasheed Masood tested positive for coronavirus some time ago and underwent treatment at a Delhi hospital.

He had recovered from the infection there and returned to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Imran Masood said.

However, his condition deteriorated again a few days ago and he was admitted to a retirement home in Roorkee where he died today morning, Imran Masood said.

Rasheed Masood had been a member of the Lok Sabha of Saharanpur five times. He was also elected to Rajya Sabha for a few terms.

Rasheed Masood had won Lok Sabha’s election in 1989 as candidate Janata Dal and was the Union Minister of State for Health in the then government.
