New Delhi:
Former President Pranab Mukherjee continues to be in a deep coma but is hemodynamically stable, the hospital treating him said today.
Doctors treating 84-year-old Mr Mukherjee said he was on life support and being treated for a lung infection.
Doctors say a patient is hemodynamically stable when their blood flow parameters, such as blood pressure, heart, and pulse, are stable and normal.
Mr Mukherjee was admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi on August 10 and underwent surgery the same day for the removal of a clot in his brain. He had also tested positive for COVID-19 upon admission.
He then developed a lung infection and kidney dysfunction, they added.
“Shri Pranab Mukherjee is being treated for a lung infection. He continues to be in a deep coma and on life support. He remains hemodynamically stable,” the hospital said in a statement.
Pranab Mukherjee was the 13th President of India from 2012 to 2017.
